LOAM ROW ESTATE
WHERE
Cotswolds, England
WHEN
March 2018
WHAT
Private Estate
Nestled within the rolling countryside, this rural estate landscape balances classical structure with ecological sensitivity. A formal gravel allée leads the eye from the main residence toward the broader landscape, bordered on either side by richly layered perennial plantings. Designed with a restrained elegance, the symmetrical layout evokes a sense of order and permanence, while soft transitions in height, color, and texture create a dynamic visual rhythm throughout the seasons.
Beyond the allée, a reclaimed stone wall defines the boundary between formality and the wild. Native wildflower meadows stretch gently beyond the wall, weaving in pollinator-friendly diversity and movement. This transition zone was designed to honor the vernacular of the land while inviting biodiversity and moments of quiet immersion. In the early morning, a soft mist rises over the meadow, catching the warmth of the first light and revealing the landscape’s gentle interplay between the cultivated and the untamed. The result is a space that feels both timeless and deeply rooted in its natural context.
