TIDEWAY HOUSE

Tucked into the shifting dunes of Amagansett’s southern coastline, Dune House is a study in quiet resilience and modern restraint. This project reimagines the interface between built form and coastal ecology, weaving native dune grasses, softened concrete forms, and linear boardwalks into a landscape that breathes with its environment. Every element was designed to recede into the horizon—anchoring the home without interrupting the rhythms of sand, sea, and wind.

The site strategy prioritizes both protection and openness. Low, dry-stacked retaining walls subtly shape the terrain while allowing native plant communities to regenerate naturally. A sinuous boardwalk traces a gentle path through the grasses, connecting the home to the water’s edge without disturbing the dune structure. Outdoor furniture was selected for both longevity and minimal visual weight—inviting rest, but never distraction. In morning light, the entire composition glows with coastal softness, underscoring the project’s ethos: simplicity, rooted in place.
